2. ASSESSMENT 成绩评定
The module will be assessed by your final exam performance (70%) and your normal performance (30%).总评成绩中期末考试成绩占70%, 平时成绩站30%。

1) Class Performance and Attendance
Your class monitor will record the attendance of the class and hand in the name list of the absentees after the class. Besides, during the lecture section and discussion section, you might be asked questions. Your answer in the class and your attendance will be graded.
2) Essay
During the semester, you need to hand in at least one essay.
a. At least 500 words are required. (Count your number, and mark it at the end of your essay.)
b. For each chapter, there is one essay topic and you have all together 5 essay topics to choose from. For each new essay topic, there is a deadline(i.e. for week 1, chapter 1, you will be given the topic “Discuss the importance of international trade to China? On what extent does China rely on international trade?” The deadline for this essay topic is on Week 3.)
c. You only need to hand in one essay. If more than one essay is handed in, the essay with higher mark will be taken as your assignment of the semester. (i.e. you get 79 for the 1st essay, and 75 for the 2nd, you will get 79 for the essay performance for the semester.)
d. You can look for information from the Internet, first or second literature. Since discussion on the topic of international trade is abstract, looking for supplementary materials from the net is highly recommended. HOWEVER, PLAGIARISM OF ANY KIND IS NOT ALLOWED. Any data, diagrams, sentences, opinions that are not originally made by yourself should be quoted by using numbers such as 1 and listed at the end of the essay as Reference. Any plagiarism discovered will end up with no score for the essay!!!
e. Type your essay on a computer and print it out on an A4 sized sheet. It should be double-space typed and no space between the words and punctuations. The title is centered and written in 12-point Times New Roman font, bold. In the upper left hand corner of the first page, list your name, your number and your class. The body is written in 10.5-point Times New Roman font.
An Introduction to INTERNATIONAL ECONOMICS &TRADE
This course aims to provide a thorough understanding of the issues involved in managing oversea trade by introducing the basic procedures in import and export activities, foreign trade documents involved in each process of the trade, such as L/C, B/L, insurance, contract etc. and laws or regulations applied in foreign trade.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this module,
1) You should have acquired a basic understanding of the framework and procedure of international trade, and the contract clauses and should be able to conduct practical jobs in import and export business.
2) You should be able to read and translate English foreign trade textbook and perform the writing involved in international trade.
3) You should have comprehend both Chinese and English international trade registers.
